Season's Greetings from all of at Hillside Estate Winery and Bistro! As we send this newsletter, the last of the leaves are falling from the vines, the press is gently removing the juice from the fermented reds, and the barrels are being filled with some of the best wine to have ever been made at Hillside.
We have had a bustling season at Hillside, and we wish to extend our appreciation to you for your continued patronage and friendship. It has certainly been an exciting year with the launch of our new Wine Club, the release of many new vinatges, and the addition of many new awards and accolades. We hope you enjoy our fall/winter newsletter, and we all look forward to seeing you soon!
New Releases
All of our current releases can be purchased on our website and delivered to you or your gift recipient via courier.
Our newly released selections include:

Mosaic (2006),* $39.99, Mosaic – small pieces coming together to create a work of art. Our signature wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot. This wine was crafted using only the best fruit and the finest oak. It is a wine that can be tucked away in your cellar for a decade or enjoyed tonight as the perfect match for osso bucco or roast beef.

Reserve Pinot Gris (2008), $19.99, Our classic Pinot Gris was made from luscious fruit sourced from the Naramata and Black Sage benches and fermented in both stainless vats and Hungarian oak barrels, and held sur lies for 2 months with weekly battonage. Orange blossoms and vanilla mingle with tropical fruit aromas followed by a rich and supple mid-palate. This dry wine is exceptional with creamy pasta dishes, light curries, and savoury cheese and pate plates. This wine received a Bronze Medal at the 2009 Okanagan Fall Wine Festival!
Merlot (2007), $19.99, Red velvet in a bottle! Big, luscious, and full of ripe berries. The fruit for this well-crafted wine was sourced from several independent vineyards throughout the Okanagan Valley, giving it a complex nose and palate. Rich, well-balanced tannins allow this wine to pair well with roast lamb and beef dishes. Enjoy! This wine received a Bronze Medal at the 2009 Northwest Wine Summit!
Reserve Merlot (2006), $29.99, Our premium Merlot was aged in both French and American oak, giving it smooth approachable tannins and a well-balanced finish. This wine shows a predominance of dark cherries, vanilla and milk chocolate throughout. Enjoy with rich meats and hearty pastas.

Tasting Notes: Rich, fruity and smooth! This wine is crafted entirely from grapes sourced from our Hidden Valley vineyard on the Naramata Bench. The wine is elegant and shows classic cool-climate characteristics such as blackberry and lavender with a hint of spiciness. Food Pairings: Perfect for braised meats or hearty stews.
Awards: Silver Medal - 2008 Northwest Wine Summit Aging Potential: Good acidity and tannin structure will allow this wine to age 4-5 years. Very drinkable now. Date Bottled: August 2007

Hillside’s Bistro & Wineshop
Our wineshop is open Monday-Friday from 11am-4pm and Saturday/Sunday by appointment for wine purchases, creative gift ideas and Hillside apparel. Please ring our wineshop’s doorbell and one of our office staff will be delighted to greet you!
The Bistro is closed for the winter months and will re-open in the Spring on April. 4/2010 for Easter brunch. Our talented culinary team is crafting new restaurant and events menus for the 2010 season, so stay tuned. New menus and packages will be posted to our website mid-March.

Upcoming Events
Naramata Bench Christmas Open House-
No admission fee Saturday and Sunday, December 5 & 6, 2009: 11am-4pm Along with several members of the Naramata Bench Wineries Association (NBWA), we will be open for wine tasting, appies and purchases. Participating wineries will advertise their hours of operation and signify their participation with balloons outside. Donations to the SOWINS (South Okanagan Women in need Society) are welcome.
